Ridge 6th Grade Girls Win Second Straight JBL Championship
The Ridge 6th grade girls basketball team captured its second consecutive JBL Championship on March 14 with a decisive 42–16 victory over Branchburg at Morristown Beard School.
Ridge used strong defense and balanced scoring to control the game from start to finish. The win capped a remarkable 17–1 season and improved the team’s two-year record to 35–1.
Paige Salmon led all scorers with 19 points, followed by Reagan Donley (12) and Julia Naulty (5). Saylor Harben, Charlotte Anderson, and Abby DeSanti each added 2 points. Ridge also dominated the boards, with Saylor Harben, Greta, Briana, and Elia leading the rebounding effort.
Head Coach Tim Salmon praised the group’s effort and chemistry.
“This group of girls has worked incredibly hard over the past two seasons,” Salmon said. “Winning back-to-back championships is something they should be really proud of. I am so lucky to get to coach this amazing group.”
Assistant Coach Keith Donley added:
“The girls play for each other. Watching them grow as players and teammates over the last two seasons has been really special.”
The championship marks another milestone for a Ridge team that has established itself as one of the most successful squads in the league over the past two seasons.
