14U RIDGE DEVILS SOFTBALL TEAM WINS FALL LEAGUE TITLE

The 14U Ridge Devils were late to join the Central New Jersey Girls Softball League, but took it by storm, finishing a perfect 10-0 in league play. On Sunday, October 23, 2002, the Devils completed their tour de force by yielding a single (bunt) hit over the semi-final and championship games. The Devils first beat North Edison by a score of 11-0, ending the game with the team’s first 6-4-3 double play ever. Brooke Helpinstill was the starting pitcher and struck out 10 over 4 innings, and did not yield a single hit. The Devils then beat Middletown 9-1 in the title game. Genevieve Provence went the distance in the circle, striking out 12 batters over 6 innings. The Devils end their play in 2022 with an overall record of 40-19-2, with 2 league championships and 3 tournament wins.
