Warm Weather Policy

RYSI wants to ensure that our families are aware of RYSI’s policy concerning heat illness.  Our policy was developed to help parents and coaches increase the safety and performance of the student-athletes who play sports with RYSI in hot weather.

We ask that your child be properly hydrated before he heads out the door to practice or a game.  And, make certain your children have their own water bottles for practice.  While fluid breaks are scheduled for all practices and will become more frequent as the heat and humidity levels rise, RYSI will encourage players to stay hydrated throughout practice.  In fact, players are encouraged to take fluid breaks at any time necessary to maintain hydration.  NO PLAYER WILL BE PENALIZED IN ANY WAY FOR HEAT RELATED EFFECTS and they should speak up if they are not feeling well.

In addition, RYSI is committed to maintaining awareness of the temperature and humidity levels.  To that end, practice length, intensity and equipment will be varied as the levels rise.   Please ensure that you advise RYSI and our coaches of any history of heat illness.
